Endodontic Treatment

Root canal treatment is also known as root canal therapy or endodontic treatment.

Root canal treatment is the process of removing the pulp and cleaning out all the infected tissue in the pulp chamber and root canal.

This treatment is required when the pulp becomes infected either through decay or trauma and is unable to repair itself.

Symptoms of root canal disease;

• Lingering sensitivity to either hot or cold liquids
• Sensitivity to sweets
• Pain from bite pressure
• Pain that is referred from a tooth to another area, such as the neck,   temple, or the ear
• Spontaneous toothache
• Constant or intermittent pain
• Throbbing pain
• Pain that may occur in response to atmospheric ressure changes eg when flying or scuba diving
• Pain that may occur in response to postural changes i.e when going from  standing to a reclining position or vise versa
• Swelling
